Body of missing man located in Murray River

The body of a man missing since yesterday has been recovered from the Murray River on the state's border.

About 6.30pm (Saturday 18 January 2020), Victoria Police received reports that a 21-year-old man had fallen from a boat and failed to resurface on the Murray River near the town of Swan Hill, Victoria.

Victoria Police, assisted by the State Emergency Service (SES), began a search operation before it was suspended at 9pm.

The search resumed about 6am today (Sunday 19 January 2020) with additional assistance from NSW Police, and continued until about 6.50pm when Victoria Police divers located the man's body.

A crime scene was established and detectives from Murray River Police District have commenced inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
