Bones located in bushland in Blackheath

Police are investigating after bones were located in the Blue Mountains earlier this week, NSW Police say.

On Wednesday (19 April 2017), a bushwalker discovered skeletal remains in dense bushland in Blackheath.

A police operation by Blue Mountains Local Area Command recovered the remains, however, at this time identification cannot be definitively established.

Officers are continuing inquiries to establish the identity of the remains.

The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
