Tasmanians have once again shown their passion for basketball, with tickets to the upcoming FIBA Men's World Cup Qualifier between the Australian Boomers and New Zealand Tall Blacks in Hobart now officially sold out.

Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said the sell-out crowd is another demonstration of Tasmania's growing reputation as a premier sporting destination.

"It's fantastic to see such a huge response from Tasmanian fans," Minister Howlett said.

"This will be the first FIBA Men's World Cup Qualifier ever held in Tasmania, and to have it sell out so quickly shows just how strong the love for basketball is across the state."

The match will be played on Friday 28 November at MyState Bank Arena as part of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers, with 16 nations competing for seven available spots across Asia and Oceania.

All Member and Public General Reserve tickets have now sold out, with only a limited number of corporate boxes still available. Businesses are encouraged to secure their seats soon, with demand remaining extremely high.

"Outside of the Olympic Games, this is one of the fastest-selling Boomers fixtures we've seen," Minister Howlett said.

"Tasmania's support for basketball continues to shine, from the JackJumpers' success through to international events like this one."

Adding to the weekend's excitement, Basketball Australia has announced a She Hoops clinic on the Saturday morning 29 November, led by former Opals Captain Tess Madgen and current WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, Alanna Smith.

The clinic, designed to inspire and encourage young female players, is also filling up fast.

Basketball Australia's Executive General Manager of High Performance, Jason Smith, said the Boomers can't wait to hit the court in Hobart.

"The Boomers can't wait to get to Hobart in November to start their 2027 FIBA World Cup campaign, and we thank the Tasmanian public for their support!" Mr Smith said.

The Tasmanian Government, through Events Tasmania's Major Events Partnership Program, has provided $75,000 in funding to support delivery
