The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for regional artists with a new investment of $300,000 over the next two years to showcase the work of Queensland artists through the Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA) and the touring of the award exhibitions across the State.
The QRAA are Australia's largest regional art awards, providing winners with the important opportunity to have their work showcased while connecting regional communities and audiences with access to award winning work.
The Budget outcome will support continuation of the QRAA which this year offers a total prize pool of more than $180,000 - the largest in the awards' history - and will also support touring of the finalists' works in 2026 and 2027.
This new funding is in addition to the Crisafulli Government's investment of more than $1 million over four years through the Organisations Fund 2026-2029, providing core funding for Flying Arts Alliance's operations and programs.
Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Crisafulli Government is proud to support Flying Arts Alliance, which provides valuable programs and services for regional Queensland artists and communities.
"This new investment for Flying Arts Alliance's presentation and touring of the QRAA provides an important platform to share our stories and celebrate our storytellers, which is a priority of our new Queensland's Time to Shine: 10-year strategy for arts and culture," Minister Langbroek said.
"I encourage regionally based emerging and established artists to enter the QRAA for the chance to showcase and tour their works and connect with new audiences across the State."
Flying Arts Alliance is focused on providing services for regional and remote Queensland, and offers an annual program of workshops, projects and exhibitions for artists of all ages.
Since 2020, the Queensland Government has supported Flying Arts Alliance to present the QRAA touring exhibition honouring Mr Moriarty's legacy.
Chief Executive Officer of Flying Arts Alliance Toni Palmer said they were deeply grateful to the Queensland Government for the additional funding provided to support the QRAA and regional touring programs.
"This investment strengthens our ability to deliver meaningful arts engagement across Queensland, especially in remote and regional communities, and supports our mission to enrich cultural life statewide," Ms Palmer said.
"We thank the Minister for recognising the value of these initiatives and for championing the arts as an essential pillar of Queensland's future."
