Boozy bandits caught in Cremorne

Two men have been arrested following an alleged theft from a Cremorne liquor store last night (1 October), Victoria Police say.

It is alleged a man entered the Swan Street store about 7.10pm and ran out with some unpurchased cans of alcohol.

Just under an hour later, two men entered the same store, with more alcohol stolen.

The pair was seen exiting the store by a passer-by, who spotted them again soon after at a park on White Street.

Police attended and arrested one of the men, an 18-year-old from Oakleigh.

He has been charged with theft and drunk in a public place and bailed to appear at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 14 November.

The second man allegedly ran off along Railway Crescent and onto the train tracks.

A short time later, police spotted the man in a railway yard and chased him on foot.

The man kept running across the railway tracks and jumped off a wall onto Stephenson Street, continuing on to Cubitt Street where he was quickly arrested.

He was taken to hospital with injuries he sustained after jumping from the wall.

The 19-year-old Frankston man will be interviewed at a later time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
