Boy charged after multiple injured in crash in Werrington

A boy has been charged after a serious head-on crash in Sydney’s west last week in which six people were injured, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Dunheved Road at Werrington about 7.30pm on Thursday 12 October 2017, after a Holden Commodore sedan and a Holden Commodore utility collided head-on.

The driver of the utility, a 27-year-old woman, who was trapped for about an hour, and her 16-year-old passenger were both taken to Westmead Hospital.

The driver of the sedan, a 14-year-old boy, two passengers aged 14 and 16, were all taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, with various injuries.

A back-seat passenger in the sedan, an 18-year-old man from Mt Druitt, was taken to Westmead Hospital with leg injuries.

The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, a 14-year-old boy was arrested today and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

He was charged with three counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, two counts of drive furiously causing bodily harm by misconduct, drive whilst unlicenced – never held, fail to supply particulars to police, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The boy was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court on Monday 20 November 2017.
