Boy charged over armed robbery at Armidale

A child will face court today charged following an alleged armed robbery in the state's Northern Tableland's yesterday.

About 8.20pm (Tuesday 16 June 2020), a boy entered a convenience store on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Armidale, where he allegedly produced a knife and threatened a shop attendant, a 20-year-old man.

The boy took cigarettes before fleeing.

Officers from New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 12-year-old boy on Golgotha Street, Armidale about 8.20am today (Wednesday 17 June 2020).

He was taken to Armidale Police Station, where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The boy was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Wednesday 17 June 2020).
