Boy critical following quad bike crash near Griffith, NSW

Police continue their investigations after a boy was injured in a quad bike crash on a property near Griffith today, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm today, a seven-year-old boy was riding a quad bike on a property on Irvin Road, Barellan (about 62km east of Griffith) with a nine-year-old male pillion passenger.

Police have been told the pair took a turn on the bike when they fell off the bike, which then fell onto the younger boy.

Emergency services were called and the injured boy was taken to Griffith Base Hospital, before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Griffith Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene. The bike was seized for forensic examination.

Inquiries continue.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
