Boy dies after kite surfing incident - Kurnell

A boy has died following a kite surfing incident in Kurnell.

About 5.30pm (Saturday 2 November 2019), a 14-year-old boy was kite surfing off Silver Beach, when he got caught in a gust of wind and landed heavily on rocks.

As a result, the boy suffered severe injuries and, following a rescue operation, he was airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

A short time ago the boy died in hospital.

Officers from the Marine Area Command are conducting inquiries into the incident and are speaking to family and witnesses.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
