Boy in serious condition after being hit by car - Unanderra

Police are appealing for public assistance after a child suffered critical injuries when he was hit by a car in the state's south today.

About 8.35am today (Wednesday 2 December 2020) emergency services attended Waples Road, Unanderra where a Nissan Maxima traveling west on Waples Road, near Mianga Crescent, collided with a 10-year-old boy.

The boy was treated at the scene for head injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being airlifted to Randwick Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, is assisting police and was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established by officers from Lake Illawarra Police District and examined by the Southern Crash Investigation Unit.
