Boy injured after being bitten by dog in East Nowra

A child has been hospitalised after being bitten by a dog at East Nowra yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police were contacted by hospital staff after a two-year-old boy was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital after being bitten by a dog.

Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command have been told the boy was in the front yard of a home on Quickmatch Street when he was attacked about 4pm today.

The boy is in a serious but stable condition with injuries to his chest, back, head and legs.

The dog has been secured and officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command will liaise with local council rangers.
