Boy injured after bitten by dog in Erina

A child has been hospitalised after being bitten by a dog at the Central Coast yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police were contacted by hospital staff after a 5-year-old boy was taken to Gosford Hospital after being bitten by a dog.

Officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command have been told the boy was inside his home on Karalta Road when he was attacked shortly before 8pm today.

The boy is in a stable condition with injuries to his face and has been taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead for further treatment.

The dog, believed to be the family’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, has been secured and officers will liaise with local council rangers.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
