Breaker Tries To Outrun Patrols At Prospect

A man has been arrested this morning after breaking into multiple business in Prospect.

Just before 1am Thursday 27 November, Western District patrols were called to a Churchill Road business after reports that a suspect had been captured on CCTV inside the premises.

It will be alleged that on arrival police found a roller shutter had been jemmied open at the front of the store, a window smashed, and a door frame was damaged.

As they were examining the scene, patrols heard noises coming from another business across the road and when they went to investigate, a man exited the store and fled on foot.

Patrols and Police Dog Duke gave chase and swiftly arrested the man as he was attempting to escape over a nearby fence.

When officers searched the suspect, it will be alleged he was in possession of a two ice pipes, two screwdrivers and stolen cash from inside the till of one of the businesses.

The 38-year-old man from Bowden was charged with two counts of serious criminal trespass, property damage, going equipped, resisting arrest and possessing drug equipment. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today (Thursday 27 November).

Crime scene investigators attended to examine the scene.
