Breakthrough in fatal fail to stop crash investigation in Guildford

Police and family members of a woman killed in a fail to stop crash in Guildford last year, are renewing their appeal for information, following a breakthrough in the investigation, NSW Police say.

About 8.50pm (18 December 2016), Javaher Rahimi – who was 66-years-old at the time – was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Hawksview and Cecil Streets, Guildford.

She sustained serious injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital, where she later died.

The vehicle involved left the scene after the crash, and was last seen heading west on Hawksview Street.

Police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and commenced investigations.

At the time of the incident, officers were told that a vehicle similar to a Ford Falcon, yellow in colour with black wheels, was involved in the crash.

Following extensive investigations, officers from the Crash Investigation Unit can confirm that the vehicle involved was a yellow Mitsubishi, not a Ford as first thought.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information, or anyone who saw a yellow Mitsubishi driving in the area that night to come forward.

Even the smallest piece of information could assist with an investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
