Bridgewater Police Target Dangerous Driving

Bridgewater Police have launched the first of several traffic operations to reduce dangerous driving during the Christmas and New Year period as part of Operation Safe Arrival.

These operations focus on the leading causes of fatal and serious crashes, speeding, impairment (alcohol/drugs), distraction (mobile phones), fatigue, and failing to wear a seatbelt.

The first operation in the New Norfolk area resulted in:

• 110+ random breath tests

• 12 infringement notices

• One suspended driver detected

• Two trail bikes seized for hooning and evading offences

Police thank members of the public who have provided dash cam footage, which has led to follow-up investigations and infringements.

Operations will continue in coming weeks to keep roads safe. Motorists are urged to drive responsibly, obey road rules, and report dangerous behaviour.

To report unsafe driving:

• Call 131 444 for incidents happening now

• Submit dash cam footage via taspol.au.evidence.com

• Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au for anonymous tips
