Georges River Council is inviting community feedback on a proposal to install additional lighting at the basketball court in Hogben Park, Kogarah. The proposed upgrade aims to improve safety and accessibility, allowing the court to be used safely during evening hours.
The proposed lighting would offer several benefits to the community, including extended access to the basketball court during shorter winter days, improved safety for park users in the evening, greater accessibility for working families, and enhanced opportunities for physical activity and social connection.
Mayor Elise Borg said, "This proposal is about making our public spaces more usable and inclusive."
"We understand there are different views in the community, and that's why it's important for everyone to have their say. Your feedback will help us shape a solution that balances access, safety and residential amenity."
To learn more and submit feedback, visit Council's Your Say Webpage. Hardcopies can be submitted by email, post and in person at Council Centres and Libraries.
The consultation is open until Monday 3 November 2025.
