Brisbane Dad's Hunch Lands $770K Lotto Win

The Lott

Saturday lotto is proudly played across Australia under the brands Gold Lotto, Lotto, TattsLotto and X Lotto, bringing winning moments to players nationwide.

A Wilston dad says he "just knew" he was going to win the Saturday Gold Lotto game on the weekend, prompting him to replay his "losing ticket" from the previous draw to land the life-changing division one prize.

The Brisbane resident held one of the eight division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4679 on Saturday 23 May 2026. Each division one winning entry pocketed $772,198.90.

When we made contact to confirm his win yesterday morning, the ecstatic Queenslander explained the simple winning decision he'd made day before - to replay the QuickPick that had failed to land him a prize in the previous week's draw.

"I was just sitting on the couch yesterday afternoon thinking, 'I'll give that another go'," he said.

"I know it's random as the numbers didn't come out last week. I just had this feeling - I thought, 'I'm going to win this'.

"I woke up this morning, refreshed my email, didn't have one from The Lott and thought, 'bugger, didn't win'," he laughed.

"But then I jumped on The Lott app… there it was. Initially, I thought I'd won $70,000, which would have been great. But then I saw it was a lot more.

"I didn't say a word. I just walked over to my wife and showed her my phone. She thought I was showing her someone else's Instagram. She was like, 'What?!' before she realised.

"It was pure disbelief. Bloody brilliant. This is mind-blowing."

The down-to-earth winner declared the impact of the prize would be immediate and practical.

"It's a significant, huge amount of money," he said.

"It's hard to explain how much impact this will have. You can't underestimate how much impact this will have on my family. It just takes the stress away - that's massive.

"We don't live beyond our means, so this just helps bring things forward. We'll take a big chunk off the mortgage, be comfortable and things will be that much easier. I can finally see an end goal."

The man's winning 15-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
