Broadbeach Man Convinced of $15M Oz Lotto Win

The Lott

Despite initially dismissing multiple calls from us, a Broadbeach man has finally been convinced that he won $15 million in last night's Oz Lotto draw.

The sceptical Gold Coast player held one of the two division one winning entries in Oz Lotto draw 1642 on Tuesday 5 August 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $15 million.

While we tried to contact the man with the winning news immediately after the draw, it wasn't until this morning that they managed to speak with him. Even then, the winner was initially sceptical and didn't want to speak.

But after finally checking his ticket, the newly minted multi-millionaire realised his dream of winning the lottery had finally come true.

"This is the best news I've had in many a year," he said.

"I'm a bit blown away.

"I was a bit sceptical when you first called, I wasn't too convinced. But then I checked my ticket.

"I've been playing a long time, but never thought it would happen to me. I'm glad I persisted."

When asked how $15 million might transform his life, the happy man shared he would need a little time for the enormity of his win to sink in.

"I'll take some time to think about it but we'll definitely do something for the kids and grandkids," he said.

The man's 50-game QuickPick entry was purchased Broadbeach Day Night Chemist, Shop 3-5, 2723 Gold Coast Highway, Broadbeach.

Broadbeach Day Night Chemist owner Julia Clare said she was ecstatic a big win had landed in her outlet.

"Really happy to hear it is a local. It's really amazing," she said.

"We sold a division one winning syndicate entry a few years ago in May 2023. It was a $1 million ticket and it went to five syndicate members.

"They always say good things come in threes, so I'm sure we'll sell another division one winning entry soon!

"On behalf of the entire team, we wish our newly made millionaire all the very best and thank you for supporting us."
