Fawkner Embona detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a firearms incident in Broadmeadows on Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the area after reports of gunshots being heard about 5.25pm on 11 August.

It is believed the shots were fired into the front of a house Wharton Ave.

The occupants of the home, a 56-year-old woman and a 1-year-old boy, were unharmed.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.
