Brother, Sister Charged After Pursuit At Inverell

Two siblings will face court charged after allegedly stealing a vehicle in the state's northwest yesterday.

Just after midday (Thursday 10 July 2025), police were told a vehicle had allegedly been stolen from an automotive business in Vivian Street, Inverell.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and sighted the vehicle a short time later in Byron Lane, Inverell.

Police will allege the driver of the vehicle rammed the police vehicle before driving away.

A pursuit commenced; however, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle a short time later in Laurence Street, Inverell.

Police arrested the driver – a 13-year-old boy – and the passenger – a 12-year-old girl – who were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Inverell District Hospital with minor injuries

The occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured.

The boy was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, negligent driving and use offensive weapon to prevent apprehension.

He was refused bail to appear before a Childrens Court today, Friday 11 July 2025.

The girl was charged with being carried in conveyance without consent of owner.

She was granted conditional bail to appear before a Children's Court on Friday 7 August 2025.
