Just before 1am this morning, police were performing patrols of Mareeba when they saw a fire taking hold in a business on Hort Street.
The fire was extinguished by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews, but not before it destroyed two premises and caused significant damage to a third.
Police are now working to establish the cause of the fire.
