Building fire in Canterbury

Police are investigating a large building fire at Canterbury overnight, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Broughton Street, just after 2am (Thursday 17 May 2018) where they found the abandoned factory well alight.

The fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW, but the building suffered significant damage.

It is not believed anyone was in the building at the time of the incident.

Crime scene officers hope to examine the site later today and Burwood Police Area Command are conducting inquiries.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and police urge any person who has information which could assist investigators to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
