A Bundaberg woman has become an overnight millionaire after buying her very first Weekday Windfall ticket - inspired by a friend who had been gifted one.
The Queenslander held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4706 on Friday 22 May 2026. She pocketed $1 million.
"I'm really happy, but I couldn't believe it when I checked my ticket on Friday night," she exclaimed when speaking to us.
"I had to ring my daughter and get her to check the ticket to make sure I was right."
The delighted winner admitted she had never even heard of Weekday Windfall until a chance visit with a friend earlier that day.
"It was my friend - she'd been given a Weekday Windfall ticket by her grandkids," she explained.
"I've never bought a Weekday Windfall ticket before. I didn't even know there was a Friday draw! But, on the way home, I went and got a ticket - my very first one.
"I still can't believe it's happened.
"I'm not rich by any means, so this is a big relief. It just takes a weight off my mind and makes life easier.
"I might buy a new car, mine's about 25 years old, and probably a new washing machine!"
Adding to the sense of fate, the happy mum revealed a remarkable family memory that now felt eerily prophetic.
"My daughter told me she went to a clairvoyant when she was 18. She was told someone in the family would have a big win.
"It's taken its time!"
The woman's winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Sugarland Newsagency, Shop 26, Sugarland Plaza, Heidke Street, Avoca.
Sugarland Newsagency manager Donna Heaps said her outlet had now sold five division one winning entries during the past 25 years.
"It's so exciting! We just helped someone become a millionaire!" she said.
"You always hope one of your regular customers will have their moment, and it's incredibly exciting knowing someone's life has changed overnight.
"Our customers will be very excited and no doubt they will want to be the next division one winner.
"We congratulate our division one winner and wish them every happiness in the future."
