Burglaries in the south

Police are investigating following a series of residential burglaries in Melbourne’s south over the last six months, Victoria Police say.

Glen Eira Bayside Crime Investigation Unit detectives have been told an unknown man gained entry to an apartment building in Elsternwick on 14 March about 12.20pm.

One inside the Riddell Parade apartment the offender stole a number of items including a laptop computer, iWatch, a number of Dyson vacuum cleaners and an amount of US currency.

Investigators believe the same man may be involved in a number of other burglaries in surrounding suburbs.

Police have been told a man gained entry to an apartment on Commercial Road, Prahran on 4 November 2016.

On this occasion he stole a laptop computer, jewellery, and bank cards.

On 4 December, 2016, investigators believe the same man gained to an Ercildoune Street apartment in Caulfield North.

Police believe the man looked through cupboards and draws in the apartment before realising a resident was home sleeping.

He then fled without stealing any items.

Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.
