RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility, Active fire may occur close to the roadside, Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside.
ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Bushfires NT advises that the Livingstone Volunteer Bushfire Brigade will be conducting planned roadside burning operations along the Stuart Highway road verge, between the Cox Peninsula Road intersection and Colton Road intersection, commencing today Friday 24th of April and continuing through to Sunday 17th May 2026.
These works form part of ongoing fuel reduction activities aimed at decreasing bushfire risk to surrounding communities, infrastructure, and road users.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling through the area and be aware of changing road and visibility conditions.
For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.
