Business grants to help innovation, diversification

Small businesses in Corangamite Shire can apply for up to $5000 to try something new or improve their business.

Corangamite Shire's Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) is designed to encourage innovation, adaptation or diversification.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the program would offer grants of up to $5000 on a $1:$1 basis.

"The aim is to help existing businesses and start-ups kick-start projects," Cr Gstrein said.

"This will help grow the businesses themselves and have flow-on effects for the wider Shire through jobs and increased economic activity."

"If your business is in the Shire or plans to move here and has 20 or fewer full-time equivalent employee, you could be eligible.

"Give us a call and we can talk you through your plans and help with an application."

Priority will be given to projects that explore new ways to do business, adapt and diversify however even just a simple upgrade to a business could be eligible for funding.

Applications can be made online here until 5 pm, Friday 5 March. Recipients will have until 31 December 2021 to finish the project.
