Cairns Libraries popular place to visit

Cairns Libraries branches have ranked as the most popular to visit in the Queensland.

The State Library of Queensland's annual Statistical Bulletin (2017-2018) revealed Cairns Libraries recorded 955,100 visits, a state-topping 5.9 visits per capita and well above Redland (3.96 visits per capita), Toowoomba (3.3) and Townsville (3.03).

Cairns Libraries loaned over 1.1 million items, with an active membership base of 66,939, 41% of the population.

In 2017-2018, there were 157,813 bookings on the public PCs totalling 94,689 hours of use, and 75,013 user hours logged through the free wi-fi.

Cairns Libraries also hosted 875 program and events, attracting over 34,000 attendees.
