Byron Shire Council are inviting volunteers and managers of events in the Byron Shire that want to improve their event management skills to attend a free Event Management Bootcamp on Monday 9 October. They are also encouraged to submit an expression of interest for a free event training program, which will run from October to December.

Jess Gilmore, Byron Shire Council Events & Economy Team Leader, said that this was all possible thanks to securing a grant from the NSW Government aimed to support social cohesion and strengthen community.

"We know that community involvement in events is so important; many events held in the Byron Shire are run or heavily rely on volunteers.

"We want to build capacity for events and volunteers and create more opportunities for connection. That is why we are excited to have secured this grant that offers community members the opportunity to enhance their event management skills, through this exciting training program.

"The best part is that the training will be delivered mostly online, so that people can do it at their own pace.

"If people are interested in applying, they will need to attend an all-day bootcamp event on Monday 9 October. Spaces are limited for the event training program, but those that miss out will still have the opportunity to enrol in other workshops, which will kick-off in the new year," she said.

The intensive event training program is being delivered by rEVENTS Academy, that have delivered training, support and event management for many other Councils and regional events.
