Canada's agrifood producers and processors play a vital role in strengthening communities and fuelling the economy. With innovative approaches, the sector is rapidly boosting its productivity and resilience. The Government of Canada is investing in home-grown businesses as they streamline operations, improve product quality, and meet growing demand.

Today, the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agrifood, and Member of Parliament for Malpeque, announced a combined investment of over $2M to strengthen the agrifood industry. This contribution will support seven Island farming-related businesses modernize equipment to better serve growing market demand and build a more resilient supply chain.

The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Targeted investments like the ones announced today are strengthening traditional industries through innovation, establishing a more autonomous economy that works for all Canadians.
