Canberra builders need to step up efforts to keep their sites covid-safe to ensure the ACT industry remains open during the current heightened pandemic risk, says the CFMEU ACT.
"Everyone working in construction in Canberra and the ACT needs to remain vigilant and implement the safety measures required to keep the industry free of the virus," said Zach Smith, CFMEU ACT Assistant Branch Secretary.
"The CFMEU is working closely with the ACT Government, local health officials, builders, and our members to ensure everyone in construction adheres to their Covid-safe management plans and remains vigilant."
"All builders need to have Covid-safe management plans in place, with the measures outlined in them fully implemented and properly adhered to on sites."
"Builders also need to ensure that workers from any areas covered by public health orders or lockdowns in other states are not traveling to work in the ACT, without adhering to the strict public health and quarantine measures covering any cross-border travel."
"We want the industry to stay open in Canberra and we need builders to comply with the law and public health orders to keep construction able to operate safely during this pandemic."
