Cannabis and other drugs seized in Southport, QLD

Police from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol Group (RAP) have executed a number of search warrants leading to the seizure of cannabis and other drugs as a part of on an ongoing drug operation, Queensland Police say.

Over the last three days police searched four addresses in Biggera Waters, Southport, Labrador and Mermaid Beach and as a result have charged three people with drug related offences, including possession of dangerous drug and possession of drug utensils.

Police seized a quantity of cannabis, MDMA, cocaine, and steroids from a Marine Parade residence in Southport.  A small quantity of cannabis was located at a unit in Marine Parade, Biggera Waters. In Mermaid Waters and Labrador police located and seized a large quantity of methylamphetamine in tablets and solid form.

Officer in Charge of RAP, Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said the raids are part of an ongoing drug operation targeted at drug possession in the community.

"RAP is committed to disrupting drug related offences on the Gold Coast. We run these operations at various times through the year in an effort to combat the scourge of drugs in the community."

A 47-year-old Biggera Waters woman and a 36-year-old Labrador man have been issued with a notice to appear in relation to the charges of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug utensils.

A 25-year-old Southport man has been charged with eight drug related charges including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of restricted drug and possession of anything used in the commission of a crime.

Investigations are continuing.
