Car crashes into building, NSW

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a crash in St Ives today, NSW Police say.

About 1.30pm today, emergency services were called to Sturt Place, St Ives, following reports a Mercedes Benz had crashed into a building.

Police have been told the 86-year-old driver attempted to open the garage door, when his vehicle started to roll and dragged him several metres.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.

The passenger, a 86-year-old woman, was also treated at the scene before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital as a precaution.

Officers from Kuring Gai Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
