Car Crashes Into Hyde Park Fountain In Sydney CBD

An operation is underway to remove a car from a fountain after a crash in Sydney's CBD this morning.

About 4am (Wednesday 3 June 2026), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were called to St James Road, Sydney, following reports a car had driven into a fountain.

Police attended and were told a hire car had driven into Hyde Park before mounting the Archibald Fountain.

The fountain sustained minimal damage.

The driver – a 21-year-old French National – was uninjured and taken to St Vincents Hospital for mandatory testing.

An operation has commenced to retrieve the car from the fountain.
