Car crashs into gas pipe at West Lakes, SA

A drink driver will face court after crashing his car into a gas main at West Lakes overnight, according to SA Police.

Just before midnight Saturday 25 August emergency services were called to Brebner Drive after a car collided with a large gas pipe. The crash caused significant damage to the pipe which was made safe by MFS however there is suspected to be disruptions for nearby businesses.

Just before 1.20am after an investigation police located 31-year-old Devon Park man who is believed to have been the driver of the car at the time of the collision and submitted him to a breath test.

The man allegedly returned a positive result of 0.220 and was reported for drink driving, drive without due care, fail to stop at the scene of an accident and breach of P licence conditions.

It will be further alleged police located a small amount of cannabis in the man’s car and in a bag belonging to the man. The cannabis was seized and the man issued an expiation notice.

The man was issued an instant loss of licence for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
