Car into creek; woman rescued - Lismore

A woman has been rescued after crashing into a creek at Lismore today.

Just before 4.30pm (Friday 8 March 2019), police have been told a vehicle travelling along Bridge Street, Lismore, left the roadway, travelled down an embankment and crashed into Leycester Creek.

Members of the community attempted to assist a woman with getting out of the vehicle before officers from Richmond Police District, Police Rescue, SES, Fire & Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance arrived.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.

A rescue operation to retrieve the car continues.
