Car theft, Gulliver

Police are conducting an operation in Townsville to locate a man who stole a car with two passengers and later dumped it at Railway Estate.

Around 8.30am this morning, the man unsuccessfully attempted to steal a vehicle in Arthur Street at Aitkenvale.

Around 8.50am, on Fulham Road at Gulliver, he then stole a car which contained two female passengers. He was armed with a gun.

The two females were located in the vehicle in Railway Estate around 10am. They were not physically injured.

A crime scene was declared and investigations are ongoing.

The man had fled the scene and an operation is underway to locate him.

Witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam footage or information regarding the man's whereabouts are urged not to approach him and to contact police immediately.
