Yarra Priority Tasking Unit are investigating the theft of a licence and subsequent deceptions which occurred in Carlton North earlier this month, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told a car parked on Drummond Street was broken into about 8am on September 12 and a licence was stolen.
The licence was used in a number of deceptions including on 14 September at 1pm when a man attended a jewellery store at a shopping complex on Dandenong Road, Chadstone.
He used the licence to obtain finance at the store and purchase a $4000 gold necklace.
Police have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
