Cash grants offered to Covid-hit community groups

COVID-19 took a financial toll on many community groups, affecting their ability to provide much-needed services. So Wellington Shire Council has allocated $50,000 to the COVID-19 Operational Support Grant Program, created to keep not-for-profits on their feet.

COVID-19 Operational Support Grants of up to $1,000 are now available to community groups and organisations to assist in meeting operational costs incurred or ongoing from January 2020 to June 2021, such as insurance and utilities bills and peak body or professional affiliate payments.

The grants will also cover the Covid-related costs, such as safety signage, sanitising stations and cleaning.

To be considered for a grant, community groups or organisations must service the Wellington community and be able to demonstrate financial hardship during the last 12 months for a reasonable assessment of their application.

Applicants are asked to read the funding guidelines at http://bit.ly/C19SupportGrant, then contact the Grants Officer on 1300 366 244 to seek feedback on each proposal.

Applicants who have previously been successful in receiving Wellington Shire Council funding must have completed all acquittals and complied with Council requirements prior to being considered for this grant.
