CCTV footage released after Wall of Remembrance desecrated in Domain

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione continues to make a personal plea to the community to help police find justice after the Wall of Remembrance in The Domain was desecrated on Friday 20 May 2016, with greater damage caused to the memorial than initially thought.

New CCTV footage has been released as police continue to investigate the incident, which has resulted in 28 panels removed today as the clean-up continues.

NSW Police Commissioner, Andrew Scipione, continues to appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

"The person who has done this knows who they are. I am appalled and saddened that the names of our State’s heroes have been desecrated," Commissioner Scipione said.

"There is no more important or sacred place in the country to the NSW Police Force than this memorial."

As part of investigations that commenced about 4pm on Friday (20 May 2016), after a member of the public saw the memorial being defaced, further CCTV vision has been obtained and distributed today in the hope it may jog someone’s memory.

Sydney City Local Area Commander, Superintendent David Donohue, said the clean-up today has uncovered more damage caused to the Wall than originally thought.

"The damage is much more significant than first thought. A total of 28 panels were removed today," Supt Donohue said.

"Police have reviewed and issued further CCTV footage today of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries. Investigations will continue until those responsible are caught."
