CCTV image released following assault in Wollongong

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted near Wollongong railway station last month, NSW Police say.

About 7.40pm on Wednesday 30 May 2018, a 22-year-old man was walking from the Piccadilly shopping centre towards Wollongong railway station.

Police were told two males approached the man, who is an international student, and asked him for something, but he did not understand them.

One male started to abuse the man before punching him in the face, before they both ran off into a nearby multi-story car park.

The man later contacted police about the incident and officers from the Police Transport & Public Safety Command commenced investigations.

They have now released a CCTV image of two males who may be able to assist them.

The taller man depicted in the image is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 15 to 18-years-old with a thin build.

He is depicted wearing a black cap, long-sleeved black top with ‘AIR" wording on the right sleeve and black skinny jeans.

The second male is described as being Caucasian in appearance with a solid build and was wearing a dark-coloured cap and top, dark-coloured shorts and black shoes.

Police are urging anyone with information, or anyone who knows the identity of the males, to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
