CCTV images released as inquiries continue into suspicious fire - Niagara Park

Police have released CCTV images of a vehicle and are appealing for public assistance to identify the occupants, following a car fire on the state's Central Coast.

About 1am on Sunday 22 August 2021, emergency services responded to reports a Toyota Landcruiser was on fire at the Niagara Park Railway Station carpark.

NSW Fire and Rescue were able to extinguish the fire; however, the vehicle was totally destroyed.

Initial inquiries were conducted by officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District, before officers from the Police Transport and Public Safety Command took carriage of the investigation.

Following initial inquiries, it was established the Landcruiser had been reported stolen from a home in Wyoming earlier this year.

As inquiries continue, police have released a CCTV image of a vehicle that was seen leaving the carpark shortly after the Landcruiser was reported to be on fire.

It is believed that the occupants of the vehicle maybe able to assist police with their inquiries.

The vehicle depicted in the image is described as being a green-coloured Holden Commodore station wagon with a white-coloured boat secured to the roof.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the vehicle, or its occupants to contact the Police Transport Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
