CCTV release over assault on train in Mortdale

Police have released an image of two people following an assault on a train travelling to Sydney’s south, NSW Police say.

Just after 11pm on Friday 26 January 2018, police have been told a 22-year-old man boarded a train at Town Hall Railway Station, bound for Sydney’s south.

As the train passed through Penshurst Railway Station, a man and a woman confronted him before assaulting him and stealing his wallet.

The pair fled the train at Mortdale Railway Station and were last seen running on Morts Road, Mortdale.

Officers from the Police Transport Command commenced an investigation and wish to speak with two people depicted in a CCTV image.

The first person is described as an adult male of Caucasian appearance, aged between 18 and 19, with a slim build, between 170 and 180cm tall and brown wavy hair. He is shown wearing a light blue baseball cap, short sleeved red shirt and blue shorts.

The woman shown is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 19, with a slim build, brown hair, hazel eyes and wearing a black long-sleeved shirt.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
