CCTV released as part of investigations into murder in Riverstone

Detectives have released CCTV and are appealing for information as part of ongoing investigations into the murder of man in Sydney's west last weekend.

Quakers Hill Police Area Command, assisted by State Crime Command's Homicide Squad has established Strike Force Mela to investigate the death of a man who was killed during a home invasion on Langton Street, Riverstone, just after 12.30am on Sunday (24 May 2020).

It is alleged that five males entered the home and stabbed the 39-year-old man, before fleeing.

Officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command performed CPR on the man until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, but he died at the scene.

A search of the surrounding area was conducted with assistance from PolAir, the Dog Unit and the Public Order and Riot Squad.

Just after 1.10am, two boys – aged 16 and 17 – were arrested on Regent Street and taken to Riverstone Police Station.

Both were charged with murder and remain before the court.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, strike force detectives have today released CCTV footage of a silver 2008 model Subaru Forrester that was in the area at the time of the incident.

A vehicle fitting the same description has been seized, after Fire and Rescue NSW responded to reports of a car on fire at Boronia Park in North St Marys about 9.35pm on Tuesday (26 May 2020).

The car is currently subject to a forensic examination.
