CCTV released following arson in Kirribilli

Detectives are appealing for witnesses as they continue their investigation into deliberately lit fires that destroyed a Mercedes Benz at Kirribilli earlier this year, NSW Police say.

About 4:20pm on Tuesday 2 January 2018, a grey Toyota Hilux was captured on CCTV on Fitzroy Street Kirribilli, heading towards Upper Pitt Street.

A few minutes later, investigations suggest the Hilux was seen stopped next to a black Mercedes Benz, being driven by a man wearing a black cap.

About 4:24pm, a man was seen to smash the window of the black Mercedes Benz and throw an incendiary item into the front passenger seat of the vehicle before running away.

Police believe the man in the Hilux may have information that could assist with their investigation.

CCTV of the Hilux has now been released and police are hoping to speak with the driver or owner of the vehicle as they may be able to assist with the inquiry.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
