CCTV released following robbery of man in a wheelchair in Guildford

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man in a wheelchair was robbed of his mobile phone in Guildford earlier this month, NSW Police say.

About 9:30pm on Wednesday 7 September 2016, a 37-year-old man in a wheelchair got off a train at Guildford Railway Station and travelled through the underpass to the western side of the railway line.

A short time later a man in the tunnel approached and helped the man up the ramp onto Military Road, Guildford.

The man then asked to use his phone. When the man in the wheelchair handed his mobile phone over, the man allegedly stole the phone and ran away west on Guildford Road.

Police from Holroyd Local Area Command are investigating the matter and have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 170cm to 180cm tall, in his late 20s or early 30s. He is shown wearing a dark hooded jumper, dark pants, baseball cap and a black and red basketball Jersey with "Chicago 23" motif. He is believed to frequent the Guildford area.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
