CCTV released of Punchbowl fatal crash, NSW

Investigators have released CCTV as they renew an appeal for information into a fatal single-vehicle crash in Punchbowl last year, NSW Police say.

Just before 11am on Sunday 7 August 2016, emergency services were called to Warwick Street, Punchbowl, after a Mitsubishi EVO and a Honda CRV collided.

The driver of the white Mitsubishi fled the scene on foot while his female passenger was taken to Liverpool Hospital with critical injuries. She later died in hospital.

The 45-year-old female driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment.

Extensive investigations are yet to positively identify the driver of the Mitsubishi. Investigators have released CCTV of the crash and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward

Detective Inspector Katie Orr, of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, said investigators will not quit until the investigation is successfully completed.

"The driver involved in this crash left his passenger at a crash scene to die.

"We will continue to investigate this incident until the person responsible for this matter is caught.

"It is important to remember that any piece of information, no matter how small you may think it is, could assist our investigation.

"If you know the person responsible or if you have any information about this crash, we urge you to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
