CCTV vision released following attempted armed robbery in Cessnock

Police have released CCTV vision following an attempted armed robbery in Cessnock last month, NSW Police say.

About 2.20am on Thursday 17 May 2018, a man entered a newsagency on Wollombi Road and threatened a staff member with a firearm, demanding cash.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District attended and launched an investigation into the incident.

CCTV from inside the store has now been released and officers are keen to speak with a man seen in the vision who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is depicted in the vision as being about 168cm tall, with a thin build.

The man in the vision is wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, brown pants, black running shoes with a white Nike symbol and has his face covered.

Police have been told the man spoke with an Australian accent.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District would like to speak with anyone who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
