Celebrating Tasmania's Next Generation Of GPs

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government congratulates Tasmania's newest General Practitioners at the RACGP Tasmania Fellowship and Awards Ceremony, marking the College's largest group of new GPs to date.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the RACGP Tasmania Fellowship Ceremony is a special opportunity to recognise the next generation of doctors who will provide essential primary care to Tasmanians.

"I congratulate all the new Fellows on this milestone achievement, which represents more than a decade of study, training and commitment to community care," Minister Archer said.

"GPs are the backbone of Tasmania's health system, and these new Fellows will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians across our communities."

Minister Archer also thanked the families, supervisors and practices who supported the graduates throughout their journey and encouraged the new Fellows to one day become supervisors themselves.

"As a Government, we're committed to growing and supporting Tasmania's health workforce, particularly in rural and regional areas," Minister Archer said.

"That's why we're delivering initiatives including GP NOW, the Rural GP Settlement Incentive, and multi-year flexible grant funding to help GP practices including for infrastructure improvement."

Minister Archer also commended the recipients of this year's RACGP awards, which celebrate excellence, compassion, and commitment to care and treatment provided to Tasmanians.
