The Albanese Labor Government is expanding access to free mental health care on the Central Coast, with the new Medicare Mental Health Centre in Tuggerah now officially open.
Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Member for Dobell, Emma McBride MP, announced the opening today.
Located at 3A/152-159 Pacific Highway, Tuggerah, the centre will operate seven days a week and provide free, walk-in mental health care and support for the local community.
The upgraded and expanded service delivers on the Government's commitment to improve access to mental health care across the region.
A highly trained team of psychologists, social workers, mental health professionals and peer workers will support people experiencing mental ill health, emotional distress, or those at risk of developing mental health challenges.
The Tuggerah centre is part of the Albanese Government's major investment in Medicare Mental Health Centres, which are making it easier for Australians to access support closer to home for free.
The Albanese Labor Government is delivering a national network of 92 Medicare Mental Health Centres by mid-2030, including 33 across New South Wales.
The Tuggerah Centre is fully funded by the Australian Government, commissioned by the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network, and operated by Grand Pacific Health.
