Monash mayor Cr Paul Klisaris, councillors Cr Shane McCluskey and Cr Nick Luo and state MP John Mullahy at Central Reserve sod turn

We've started work on a $1.8m redevelopment of the south oval at Glen Waverley's Central Reserve.

Monash mayor Cr Paul Klisaris, Glen Waverley District state MP John Mullahy, Cr Nicky Luo and Cr Shane McCluskey were on hand to turn the first sod at a ceremony marking the commencement of works.

Delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government's Community Support Fund, works include a complete reconstruction of the south oval, including drainage and irrigation.

We'll also be installing 10 turf cricket wicket strips, replacing the old perimeter fencing with new chain mesh fencing and building a storage area for the cricket wicket covers along the fence line of the oval.

SJM Turf and Civil will carry out the works, scheduled for completion in March 2026.

The south oval at Central Reserve will be closed for approximately 12 months for the redevelopment works and to ensure establishment of the new turf playing surface.
